From humble beginnings, the Retail Apparel Group has grown into one of Australia's most successful menswear retailers.

1987 - Tarocash launched, as a wholesale brand specialising in smart casual menswear, by two brothers - Stephen and Michael Leibowitz. Stephen had spent the previous 16 years in South Africa, gaining extensive expertise in menswear retailing with his Father.

1988 - First Tarocash retail outlet opened under the name "Café" in Parramatta, Sydney. Five new stores added in the next 3 years

1991 - All Café retail outlets re-branded as Tarocash.

1996 - Young Disciples created as a wholesale brand under the Tarocash umbrella, appealing specifically to a younger, edgier market.

2001 - Young Disciples was split from Tarocash as a separate business entity, changed its name to yd, and opened its first retail store. A new yd store opened, every 5 weeks for the next 5 years.

2004 - Private equity company, Champ Ventures P/L, acquired stake in Tarocash.

2006 - Tarocash grown to 74 retail stores, and yd to 50 stores. Tarocash expanded its operations into New Zealand.

2007 - Retail Apparel Group was incorporated. First Connor retail outlet opened - 15 Connor stores opened in the first 6 months of operation. In the same year yd was amalgamated back into the RAG group.

2009 - Over 200 stores nationally across the group, employing around 1000 people.

Tarocash, yd. and Connor have become synonymous with smart casual menswear - each appealing to specific age and attitudinal market segments. All 3 brands are renown for their consistently inspired product ranges, mid-market appeal, strong in-store service and positive team spirit.

The RAG brands have continued to grow well above industry norms every year since they began, with further expansion planned. They are consistently rated best in category by Shopping Centre Managers and continue to invest in constant improvement programs.
